2010 Vasse Felix Cabernet Sauvignon Margaret River

(includes 10% malbec, 1.5% petit verdot and 0.5% cabernet franc): Bright violet color. Mineral-laced dark berry and cherry scents show very good clarity and notes of pipe tobacco and cedar. Textbook cabernet, with gently sweet cassis and cherry flavors, good mineral bite and silky texture. Finishes spicy and long, with fine-grained tannins adding shape. Tasted March 2014. Rated 92. ‑ Josh Raynolds, vinousmedia.com, July, 2014

2013 Yalumba Grenache Old Bush Vine Barossa Valley

Beautiful grenache. The style people like to point to as they claim grenache as 'warm climate pinot noir'. It's delicate and fragrant and light on its feet, yet it still manages to pack enough punch. Raspberry, violet, redcurrant and anise. Pure fruit. Pure seduction. In a lighter style. Rated 93. - James Suckling, JamesSuckling.com

2012 Wirra Wirra Scrubby Rise Shiraz Cabernet Sauvignon Petit Verdot

At Wirra Wirra things are not always what they seem, like their own our twist on an Australian classic - Shiraz / Cab - Wirra Wirra add a splash of Petit Verdot. Two beauties and an ugly duckling? Well, it's well known that Shiraz and Cabernet make great bedfellows, but in a rare case of "three's company" the Bordeaux blending grape Petit Verdot takes this wine to another level, with its vibrant colour and rich fragrance. All three varietals conspire to achieve the balance, elegance and structure of this classic Wirra Wirra red, complemented by 12 months in American and French oak.
