Château Sénéjac was purchased in 1999 by Lorraine Cordier, daughter of Jean Cordier and co-owner of Château Talbot in Saint-Julien. The vineyards of Château Sénejac consist of 37 hectares of vines in one parcel, 48% Cabernet Sauvignon, 11% Cabernet Franc, 37% Merlot and 4% Petit Verdot planted on deep gravel soils typical of the Médoc on a plateau overlooking the town of Pian, north/northwest of the city of Bordeaux and just south of the commune of Margaux. Delicate of aroma, hinting at spiced plum, blackberry, cassis, violet and saddle leather; supple, tender on the tongue, with a gentle persistence of delicate flavors that melt away slowly. A most pleasing style of red Bordeaux, already a hit with our discerning clientèle, for drinking even now and over the nearer term.

A very strong effort for the vintage, this dark ruby/purple-hued 2007 reveals notes of sandalwood, spice box, black currants, sweet cherries, and truffles. Spicy, round, and generous with a nicely layered mouthfeel, velvety tannins, and a surprisingly long, authoritative finish, it will provide plenty of pleasure over the next 10-12 years.
