A project of Giampaolo Venica, en hommage to the great Hermitage Blanc of Jean‑Louis Chave and, oh yes, like Hermitage Blanc, this wine is characterized by its most tactile qualities; an inspired blend of biodynamically‑farmed, hand‑harvested 80% Friulano and 20% Ribolla Gialla fruit from several small parcels of vines ranging from 60 to 80 years in age overlooking the village of Buttrio and planted to soils with alternating layers of marl and thin sheets of sandstone which allow for wines with great body and refinement. A bit of aeration serves to reveal more of this wine's aromatic slate: a hint of lime peel, green/golden Friulano berries, a reminiscence of stone and subtle hint of something like hazelnut cream or bitter almond; fully tactile onto the tongue, smooth, slippery even and ever so soothing/mollifying in texture, so richly fruited without any sort of heaviness; indeed a worthy hommage to the great Hermitage Blanc, but with a decidedly northeastern Italian accent.

Produce of an inspired blend of Friulano, Sauvignon, Malvasia and Chardonnay hand-harvested from vineyards in Cormons and Dolegna del Collio areas in Collio in northeastern Italy. The soils here are in layers of clay marl alternating with sandstone flysch of Eocene origin, locally called Ponca. Vivid light yellow/platinum in color with fresh sub-Alpine aromas hint at mint, fresh green herb and white flowers, supple, tactile on the tongue, gently glycerol, maintaining its poise and shape on the palate and finishing with a flourish of freshness and vibrancy.
